For WhatsApp Status
Post your status without the mush.
WhatsApp re-encodes every status you post — there is no setting that turns it off. CleanStatus hands it a file that already sits exactly on its target, so that pass has almost nothing left to take.
Every status is displayed 9:16. Anything else gets cropped or letterboxed by someone else's code.
The mobile client caps status video at 720p whatever you feed it. Encoding higher only wastes bits it throws away.
Longer clips get split into parts that post in order — never trimmed, never cut off mid-sentence.
How it works
Three steps, and the third one is the trick.
The order matters here, so these are numbered. Skip the third and you hand a good file to WhatsApp's harshest encoder anyway.
Pick your photo or clip
Straight from your camera roll. Nothing to set up, no sign-in, no watermark waiting at the end.
CleanStatus conditions it
Composed onto the 9:16 canvas with a blur fill, scaled with a real filter, sharpened after the downscale so small text stays readable, and landed under the size cap.
Send to a chat, then forward
The app opens WhatsApp on the chat route and reminds you to forward from there. Forwarding reuses media already on WhatsApp's servers — no second upload, no second encode.
Worth more than any encoder setting
Turn HD on once, globally.
The per-send HD button only appears when you attach media from inside WhatsApp. When another app shares media in — which is exactly what this is — that button never shows, and your upload quietly falls back to Standard. Set the default instead:
WhatsApp → Settings → Storage and data → Media upload quality → HD quality
CleanStatus checks this for you on first run and walks you through it. Two taps, once, on each phone you post from.
What you get
Built around one job, done properly.
Long clips, split cleanly
A two-minute video comes back as parts that each fit a status item, cut on the limit and queued in order.
Text that survives
Flyers, price lists and screenshots take the worst of WhatsApp's compression. A sharpening pass after the downscale is the single biggest win, and it happens by default.
A queue and a reminder
Prepare a week of posts in one sitting. CleanStatus holds them and nudges you when it's time to send.
Save what you're watching
Keep a status you were sent — straight to your gallery, no screen recording.
Your media, briefly
Conditioning runs on your phone by default. The optional HD delivery route uploads a clip so it can be encoded with the good filters, then deletes it as soon as it lands in your chat.
No watermark, ever
Not on the free plan, not anywhere. What comes out is your photo, at the size WhatsApp wants it.

Subscription and renewal terms
- What it costs. CleanStatus Pro is $2.99 per month or $19.99 per year. You pay in your local currency, at the price shown on the purchase screen before you confirm.
- It renews by itself. Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account when you confirm the purchase. The subscription renews automatically for the same period, at the same price, unless you turn off auto-renew.
- Turn it off 24 hours ahead. Auto-renew must be switched off at least 24 hours before the current period ends, or that period's renewal is charged.
- Where to cancel. iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → CleanStatus. Android: Play Store → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → CleanStatus. Cancelling stops the next charge; Pro keeps working until the period you have paid for runs out.
- Nothing hidden. No trial that converts silently, no setup fee. The free plan keeps working whether or not you ever subscribe.
Restore purchases
New phone, reinstall, or Pro gone missing?
Your subscription belongs to your store account, not to the handset. Restoring is free, takes a few seconds, and never charges you twice. Sign in with the same Apple ID or Google account you bought with, then:
On iPhone
- Open CleanStatus.
- Go to
Settings → Restore purchases, or tapRestore purchaseson the Go Pro screen. - Confirm with the Apple ID that bought the subscription.
On Android
- Open CleanStatus.
- Go to
Settings → Restore purchases, or tapRestore purchaseson the Go Pro screen. - Make sure the Play Store is signed in to the account that bought it.
Still showing Free after restoring? Email support@cleanstatus.app with the store account you used and we'll sort it out.
Questions
The things people ask first.
Can't WhatsApp just post my file as it is?
No. WhatsApp always re-encodes status media — there is no flag, no file trick, and no setting that opts out. What you can change is how much that pass costs you. A file already sitting at WhatsApp's own target resolution, bitrate and size gives its encoder almost nothing to strip.
Why does it tell me to forward instead of posting directly?
Because the two routes are not the same. Posting straight to Status runs WhatsApp's harshest local transcode. Forwarding a message that is already on WhatsApp's servers references that media instead of re-uploading it, so the status encoder never runs. Two extra taps, and it is worth more than every encoder setting combined.
Does CleanStatus upload my photos?
Conditioning runs on your phone by default and nothing leaves the device. If you switch on the HD delivery route, the clip is uploaded so it can be encoded with filters phone hardware doesn't expose, delivered to your own WhatsApp chat, and deleted from our storage once that delivery finishes.
Do I need Pro to get good quality?
No. The conditioning, the splitting and the sharpening pass are the same on both plans. Pro raises how many videos you can do per day, allows 60-second clips, runs two at once, and removes ads.
How do I cancel?
iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → CleanStatus → Cancel Subscription. Android: Play Store → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → CleanStatus → Cancel. Do it at least 24 hours before the period ends to avoid the next charge. Pro stays active until that period is over.
