Delete your data
Last updated 28 August 2026Version 1.0
CleanStatus has no accounts, so there is no account to close. What exists is a small amount of state tied to a WhatsApp number, and everything on your own phone. This page says exactly what each one is and how to get rid of it.
Delete what is on your phone
Your media, your queue, your reminders and your settings are stored in the app's own storage on the device. We cannot read them and we hold no copy.
Delete the app and all of it goes with it. On iPhone, press and hold the icon → Remove App → Delete App. On Android, press and hold the icon → App info → Uninstall. Nothing survives on our side, because nothing was ever sent there.
Files you saved to your camera roll are yours and stay there — delete them in Photos or Gallery if you want them gone.
Disconnect your number
If you used the HD delivery route, open CleanStatus and go to Settings → Manage connection → Disconnect. The app forgets the pairing token and your WhatsApp ID, and stops delivering to your chat. You can do that yourself, right now, without contacting anyone.
Be clear about what it does and does not do: disconnecting removes the link on your device. The matching pairing record on our side, and the delivery and usage records described below, are removed when you ask us — the next section covers that.
Ask us to delete server records
Because there is no account, the only identifier we can match you by is the WhatsApp number you paired. Email us from a mailbox you control and include that number in full international format.
Send to: privacy@cleanstatus.app with the subject "Delete my CleanStatus data".
Include: the paired WhatsApp number, for example +44 7700 900812. Nothing else is needed — no receipts, no screenshots.
What happens: we confirm receipt within three working days and complete the deletion within 30 days, then reply to tell you it is done.
We may ask you to confirm the request from the paired number itself — a single WhatsApp message to our delivery number is enough. That check exists so that nobody can delete someone else's records by guessing a phone number.
What is deleted, and when
| Data | How it goes | When |
|---|---|---|
| Media you sent for HD delivery | Already deleted automatically once delivery finishes — there is nothing left to request. | Minutes after delivery |
| Pairing token and WhatsApp ID | Disconnect in the app clears it on your device. Ask us to remove the matching record on our side. | Immediately on the device; within 30 days on our side |
| Job records (file size, duration, encode settings, errors) | Deleted on request, and expire on their own anyway. | Within 30 days of the request |
| Usage records (daily limit counters) | Deleted on request, and expire on their own anyway. | Within 30 days of the request |
| The record that your number messaged our delivery number | Deleted on request. Note that delivery cannot work again until you message it once more. | Within 30 days of the request |
| Everything on your phone | Delete the app. | Immediately |
Backups are overwritten on a rolling cycle, so a deleted record can persist in a backup for up to 30 days before it is gone everywhere. It is not restored to live systems in the meantime.
What we have to keep
One thing survives a deletion request: the subscription record tied to your purchase. Nigerian tax law requires us to keep proof of a transaction for the statutory period — currently six years — and the store's receipt is that proof. It holds a random identifier we minted, the product bought, the store, and the dates — not your name, not your card, and once your number is deleted, no link to your phone number either.
If you never subscribed, there is no such record and nothing is kept.
Deleting data is not cancelling
This is the part people get caught by, so plainly: deleting your data does not cancel a subscription, and deleting the app does not cancel it either. Your subscription lives with Apple or Google, and only you can end it.
| iPhone | Settings → your name → Subscriptions → CleanStatus → Cancel Subscription |
| Android | Play Store → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → CleanStatus → Cancel |
Cancel first, then ask for deletion — in that order, nothing renews behind you. The full terms are in Subscriptions and renewal.
